LitFuel was created as a medium where readers, writers, and industry professionals connect, explore stories, and fuel their passion for reading through interactive opportunities. As a community of readers, we have different backgrounds, and we aim to embrace our differences while simultaneously keeping members safe.
At LitFuel, we encourage:

Discrimination, violence, harassment, doxing, and hate are not welcome on any LitFuel associated sites. Additional safety policies enforce child sexual exploitation, self-harm/suicide, and graphic and adult content.
Reading some topics and books can evoke passionate feelings - both good and bad. Our First Amendment rights allow us to speak of these feelings. But it doesn’t allow for directed hatred, discrimination, threats, doxing, or harassment of others.
Whether you are leveraging Lit Fuel [Sites] to partake in actions such as posting events, news, pages, spaces, or listing products, tickets, services, and more, writing reviews, leaving comments, posting announcements, and more, or having direct communication within any aspect of the [Sites] such as sending chat messages or email, any form of discrimination and hate speech is prohibited. Per our Terms of Service, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account without notice for violations of any of our policies.
The following rules and guidelines (“Content Rules”) explain what is and isn't allowed on our Services. This policy is part of our Terms of Use, by using any LitFuel or LitFuel owned Site(s), you are agreeing to this policy as part of our Terms of Use.
These rules will evolve over time as we strive to build a healthy, engaging community.

You may not attack people.
- Harassment & bullying. We prohibit bullying or harassment of any kind and will not tolerate any expressions of abuse, such as threats or degrading statements intended to humiliate, intimidate, or hurt others. You may not target individuals or groups of people with harassment, or incite others to do so. This includes, but is not limited to, encouraging others to harass an individual or group of people, or wishing or hoping for the physical harm of an individual or group of people. This also means you can not engage in harassment in an effort to intimidate or silence someone. Unwanted sexual advancement or non-consensual sharing of written or visual media can also be viewed as a form of harassment and users may not engage it. Any form of media that depicts sexual violence or assault is also forbidden.
- Violence & harm. Encouraging violence or dangerous behavior is prohibited. We will not allow Users to use LitFuel to share content that includes threats of violence or incitement to violence that may result in serious physical harm.
- Violence & extremism. Reading can evoke emotions - both positive and negative. Back and forth disagreements are bound to happen. However, you are not allowed to threaten an individual person or group of people with violence. You are not allowed to threaten to kill, sexually assault, threaten any form of violence that could lead to someone’s death or physical harm or safety - online or offline, or offer a quid pro quo where something is promised in exchange for an act of violence, verbal, or physical attack towards another individual or group of people.
- Self-harm / suicide. We have zero tolerance for encouraging or promoting self-harm or suicide of an individual or group of people.
- Personal Identification Information of others. Without their express authorization and permission, you may not share any personal identification information (PII) of another individual – such as home phone number, cell phone number, email address, or physical address. You may not also threaten to disclose any PII or encourage or incentivize others to do so.
You may not attack groups or participate in hate speech
- Terrorism and hate groups. Terrorists and hate groups are prohibited from using the Services. You may not promote or incite violence against other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, affiliation, disability, or age.
- Safety of children. We have zero tolerance for any form of child exploitation, harassment of, violence towards, or any other form of behavior that does not keep children safe. Full stop. This includes engaging in predatory or inappropriate interactions or exchanges between minors and adults, online or offline. Do not support or normalize pedophilia or the sexual exploitation of minors. You will be immediately banned and reported to authorities.
- Promoting hate speech - You may not use Lit Fuel to promote, glorify or support hate speech, as defined by the United Nations: “any kind of communication in speech, writing or behavior, that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, color, descent, gender, or other identity factor.”
- Promoting violence - You may not promote violence against or directly attack or threaten other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.
- Creating accounts for harm. You may not create an account for the primary purpose of hate speech or inciting or directing hate or harm to others on the basis of the above categories. This includes using any Profile usernames, display names, or bio text to express targeted hatred, harassment, or abuse towards any individual, group of people, or protected groups of people.
- Promoting hate and violence visually. You may not post or use any imagery, symbols, display names, or text on anywhere in the Site(s). This includes but is not limited to any Activity Feeds or Engagement Walls - public or private, your Profile image, images used for your Profile header or content headers, videos, news feeds, labels, albums, or more. This also includes book covers and associated media.
- You may not participate in anti-discrimination. LitFuel prohibits the use of any of our sites and services to discriminate against people (collectively “protected groups”) with the following attributes:
- Gender
- Gender Identity
- Sexual Orientation
- Race
- Ethnicity
- Color
- Religion or creed
- National Origin
- Disability
- Pregnancy
- Age
- Veteran status
- Any additional attributes protected under applicable law
- Whether you are leveraging LitFuel [Sites] to partake in actions such as posting events, news, pages, spaces, or listing products, tickets, services, and more, writing reviews, leaving comments, posting announcements, and more, or having direct communication within any aspect of the [Sites] such as sending chat messages or email, any form of discrimination and hate speech is prohibited. You may not promote misinformation.
- Bot or automated accounts. If you are using an Account with a bot or other automated feeds, you must mark it as such, or it will be disabled.some text
- No legitimate account should follow more than 1,000 profiles or post excessive amounts within 1 day. Accounts that do will be suspected of bot activity and disabled.
- Fake news and misinformation. We prohibit the use of our site to share false or misleading information. Such conduct may include the distribution of unsubstantiated claims or manipulating content for false or misleading purposes.
- Election interference. Obviously, books about elections, political figures, journalists, and the like often stir up heated debates and opinions. Our stance is this: We believe in civic responsibility to learn factual history and to do our duty to be informed citizens. Therefore, do not engage in voter suppression or share misleading content about the election process or share misleading content falsely attributed to candidates in elections. Additionally, do not encourage or glorify the intimidation of election participants or real-world disruption of the election process.
- Impersonation and deceptive practices. We prohibit pretending to be someone else or attempting to deceive people about your identity. This includes impersonating your friends, authors, celebrities, brands, or other organizations. We remove Content that may deceive people to achieve unlawful financial or personal gain.some text
- We do appreciate comedy and parody, but please, clearly mark the account as a parody account. You must include “(Parody)” in both your Display Name and bio description. For example, John Doe (Parody). For non-parody accounts posting parody content, you must include “(Parody)” in the article title.
You may not promote illegal activities.
- Intellectual property of others. You should only post original Content created by you or Content you have sufficient rights to use. You may not upload, share, or post any Content that infringes the intellectual property rights of a third party, and we will remove such Content if we become aware of it.some text
- If you feel your content is being infringed, please fill out this form.
- Non-consensual or underage sexual content. Sharing any content that promotes, normalizes, or glorifies non-consensual sexual acts, or the sharing of non-consensual imagery, is strictly prohibited. We do not allow the sharing of any Content of nudity or sexual activity involving minors under the age of 18.
- Illegal activity. We prohibit the promotion of any criminal activity governed by applicable law, including promoting unlawful actions such as human exploitation, illegal gambling, and the trade of drugs. Do not use our site to participate in this.
You must abide by our community standards.
- Sensitive media. We get it. Some crime novels may have pics that could be gory or cringe-worthy, but please do not post media that is excessively gory, depicts sexual violence, or share violence within live video.
- Graphic and adult content. While some book cover nudity is permitted, you are not allowed to share book covers that are deemed graphic to the point that they violate many imagery permissions for book covers, such as on sites such as Amazon. Additionally, you may not post publicly or share privately intimate photos or videos of someone that were produced or distributed without their consent. You may not post media that is excessively gory or share violent or adult content within posts, video, live video, images, or in profile or header or content images.
- Trolling. You may not post or comment for the sole purpose of offending, annoying, or “owning” other people. Comments or posts that have no value other than insulting people will be deleted, and multiple offenses will lead to account suspension.
You must not be deceptive.
- Do not circumvent or evade moderation actions, for example by creating new accounts or repurposing an existing account to replace a banned account, or reposting content that has been removed as part of a moderation enforcement.
- Hack or access systems that you aren’t authorized to access
- Scam or cheat others for financial gain
- Spam, phish, or otherwise use technical means to disrupt the experience of others on LitFuel. This includes operating multiple accounts that interact similarly.
Take Action
We count on the community to help police our rules for the safety of everyone. Should you encounter a piece of content that you feel infringes on these rules, we encourage you to report the Content by using the reporting options directly found on posts and pages or by sending us an email to [@]litfuel. We will promptly examine your report to determine violations of these Content Rules.
